An insurance company calls you and says “look, we’re ready to settle your claim”. They give you an offer and you say “gee, that sounds like a reasonable offer”. Then you sign a document called a release. The next thing you know years down the road, or maybe months, you end up needing future care. You may end up needing a future surgery. Well let’s call up the insurance company and tell them you need more money. Guess what, they’ve settled your case. You’ve signed a document that is legally binding that ends your case.
That is why it is so important to understand the concept of future medical damages. You are entitled to those under the law.
What we do at David & Philpot is we hire professionals. We hire life care planners to go out and evaluate your injury. They sit down and talk to the doctors and other health care providers and they find out exactly what it’s going to take in money to help you out for the rest of your life. Then we get an understanding of the value of your case.
Remember, when you sign a release your case is over. Don’t do that without getting good legal advice.
If you or a loved one have been harmed due to the negligence of another person, please contact us today to discuss your case. There is no cost or obligation to speak with one of our attorneys. We can be reached at 800.360.7015.
